Collingswood SAT AUG 23

Collingswood SAT AUG 23

Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
BACK TO NORMAL
Following the disruption of last week’s Craft and Fine Arts Fair, our layout returns to normal this week, including Guest Vendors on Irvin Avenue and below the Speedline.
WEATHER FORECAST
Definitely getting cooler as the summer winds down. Temperatures during Market hours will top out in the low to mid 70s. Cloudy all morning, but very low chance of rain.

SITE MAP FOR SAT AUG 23
Very few surprises here except the continuing absence of Treehouse Cafe. An on-site roaster, Rich’s Micro Roast, will be situated in the Treehouse space roasting green coffee beans for customers while they wait.
GUEST VENDORS
A full roster of 6 Guest Food Vendors, including the brand new Jima Creations Granola Bars.
LIVE MUSIC Two beloved acts play our stages this week: Dave Kelly on the west stage, John Rossi on the east.
BID VENDORS As always, Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding BID participation at the Market. (609) 949-3424. mikied721@gmail.com.
GUEST ARTIST

Beaucycled

Meredith Greimel handcrafts jewelry from rare gemstones and vintage remnants. She also arranges succulent gardens in glassware and vintage pieces. See her in the guest artist space 24.
NONPROFIT FUNDRAISER
We’re devoting sponsor/fundraising space to the Methodist Homes, Collingswood’s Pop-up Gala, and first-time visitor WHYY Newsworks.
VENDOR PARKING PERMITS It’s good business to save the best parking spaces for SHOPPERS!
Most visitors will tell you it’s tough to find parking at the Market. We make things worse by parking our own vehicles in spaces that could be used and re-used many times by shoppers. Please encourage your table crew to park for free in the Lumberyard Parking Garage (just across Collings Avenue from the west entrance). There are plenty of spaces inside, and the walk back to the Market takes 3 minutes.

FLEXIBLE SITE PLAN Changes will continue to occur throughout the season as vendors come and go and as we learn more about how neighbors interact. I remind you no spaces are ever guaranteed and require your cooperation if I have to move your location any given week. Thank you.

Collingswood SAT AUG 16

Collingswood SAT AUG 16

Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
SPECIAL EVENT WEEK!
This week in Collingswood, Haddon Avenue is SHUT DOWN during Market hours for the big annual Crafts and Fine Art festival. Consider using Atlantic Avenue (just below the Speedline) to enter and exit the Market if you usually drive Haddon Avenue. The festival also means the Borough needs Irvin Avenue for through traffic, so Guest Vendors have been absorbed into the internal Market spaces.
WEATHER FORECAST
The current forecast is delightful. Temperatures will top out in the 70s during the Market, on the way to a high of 83 for the day. Sunny but cool, with decreasing humidity. Let’s have another one!

SITE MAP FOR SAT AUG 16
Here’s the Site Map. Note that there is no Guest Vendor area at the bottom. Irvin Avenue will be used for through traffic. Guest vendors and nonprofit fundraisers are positioned in internal Market spaces (85-89) (17-19) this week.
GUEST VENDORS
Popular guest vendors Dee Dee’s Garden (pesto) and John & Kira’s (chocolate) will set up in spaces 18 and 17.
Brand new vendors Rich’s Micro Roast (roasting coffee beans on the premises; no beverage service) and Aurora Naturals (soap) will set up in spaces 86 and 87, where Treehouse Cafe usually sets up. Treehouse takes its 2-week vacation every August.
LIVE MUSIC Two beloved acts play our stages this week: Dave Kelly on the west stage, Kevin Monko on the east.
BID VENDORS As always, Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding BID participation at the Market. (609) 949-3424. mikied721@gmail.com.
GUEST ARTIST
Evelyn Taylor Bonner brings her artistic sensibility and her extraordinary ceramics to the Guest Artist space. Photo to come.
NONPROFIT FUNDRAISER
Market Sponsor Lourdes Wellness Center teams up again this week with Oaklyn Food Pantry to collect food donations for our food-insecure neighbors. Encourage your customers to Buy 2 Give 1 at space 20 at Market Headquarters. Photo to come.

Collingswood SAT AUG 09

Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
HALFWAY THROUGH!
For those of us who participate all the way to Thanksgiving, this week (WEEK 15) marks the halfway point through our 30-week season. Two weeks ago, we passed the halfway point for vendors who don’t attend in November. How’s it going for you so far?

WEATHER FORECAST
The current forecast is delightful. (Just for the record, despite miserable predictions and early morning nastiness, no rain fell on the Market last Saturday once it started at 8am.)

MARKET DAY WEATHER
As usual this time of year, there’s a chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. With luck, they’ll scatter around us, but not on us. 🙂

NEW SITE PLAN LAYOUT
Please pay attention to the new site plan below. Instead of spreading out, let’s “circle the wagons” and create a smaller, more intimate, livelier atmosphere centered on the music stage. We’re adding some picnic tents at the “front,” and putting vendors on both sides of the lane, facing each other. I’ll need your attention and cooperation when you arrive to make the new plan work.
MARKET TABLE
Small, single-product vendors are having a hard time doing enough sales to justify the expense of coming to the Market while we build a steady customer base. To make sure we have enough variety to keep people coming back, the Market is selling Davidson’s Exotic Mushrooms, Wild Flour Bakery breads, and Mr. McGregor’s fruit pies from the Market Table.
PURPOSE OF THIS POST
This post is not for the general public. It’s for the benefit of Market participants. We have a facebook page and are building an email list to communicate with Marketgoers. You’ll get your news here; you’ll receive weekly email with a link to a new post at this blog for announcements and the site plan for the week.

Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
JUST PEACHY WEEK
Everything’s coming up peaches! We’ve got chefs coming to do demonstrations of their favorite peach recipes. We’ve got local bakers bringing their best peach pies for the Pie Baking Contest. Check out both events at Market Headquarters (see site plan).

WEATHER FORECAST
The current forecast is pretty awful. Cool, yes, but wickedly humid with the very high chance of rain, even morning thunderstorms. We’ve been lucky for years, so maybe we’ll be lucky again. But be prepared.

COUNTING THE CROWD, all 4,077 of them!
We counted! A team of five (Joe Mick, Isobella Cerceo, Shirley Cotrotsos, Sean Garrity, and his girlfriend Cat) scanned the entrances last week, (SAT JUL 26) and the final tally was pretty impressive for a day interrupted by a shower.

Five favorites this week: Green Aisle Grocery, Market Day Canele, Sweet Freedom Bakery, Green Ford Farm’s blueberries, and Weckerly’s Ice Cream.
LIVE MUSIC
Two beloved acts play our stages this week: Trio Nova (maybe just the Duo) on the west stage; and on the east, the long-anticipated return of last year’s surprise: The White Family Band
BID VENDORS
As always, Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding BID participation at the Market. (609) 949-3424. mikied721@gmail.com.
MARKET ACTIVITY SPACES
  • Jennifer Prasad of Marlton makes cushion covers using fun and functional fabrics. She calls her business Canary Works on Etsy. Peach events have taken over the Market Headquarters spaces, so Jennifer will set up in the Guest Vendor area.

  • Free Block Party! Fellowship Community Church will set up in the Guest Vendor area to promote their Free Block Party SUN AUG 03.
  • The Big Latch On. It’s an international event we’re playing catch-up to participate in. We have no way to know how many local mamas will appear to breastfeed their babies at 10:30, but we’ve put them on the site plan so they know they’re welcome! Tricia Burrough has created a Facebook page for the event.
