Collingswood SAT NOV 22 (Last Market 2014!)
Collingswood Site Details SAT NOV 22
Hello, Vendors, Artists, and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
SUNNY BUT COLD. . . LIKE NOVEMBER The sun is rising earlier (according to Congress), but the legislature can’t control the thermometer. Winds are very light but gain through the morning. As the temps rise, the breezes pick up. Dress accordingly.
HANDMADE HOLIDAYS SAT NOV 22 is the fourth and final Saturday in our annual Handmade Holidays celebration of guest artists, crafters, artisans, photographers, jewelers, potters, ceramicists, clothing designers, woodworkers . . . . This week promises to be another beautiful installment of our very popular annual event. Check out Nicole Meyers’ charming rendering of our “logo”:
ARTISTS ON THE SITE MAP Look for our Handmade Holidays guests in the site plan marked with red numbers indicating what weeks they will attend. For example, Tammy Riley Ginkgo Girls will occupy space 31 all four weeks of the program (123&4), corresponding to NOV 01, NOV 08, NOV 15, NOV 22. (There is no Market SAT NOV 29.) Site Map for SAT NOV 22
GUEST VENDORS Plenty of Guest Vendors this week too. Weckerly’s Ice Cream, SOOM Foods Tahini, and John & Kira’s Chocolates take familiar spaces in the Guest Vendor area. Rich’s Micro Roast will roast beans to your specifications on the space usually occupied by the Music Tent, to make room for the final visit of Neil’s Sharpening Service below the PATCO line in the Guest Vendor neighborhood. At the west end of the Market, MECHA Chocolates, and Wood Spoon Rice Pudding will fill out the Collingswood BID vendor spaces. Green Aisle Grocery and Market Day Canele will take spots inside the Market. Live alpacas will occupy the west end of the Market.
LIVE MUSIC It’s just too cold for finger-picking this time of year. There is no music scheduled for this week.
BID VENDORS Now that Mike DiBartolo and DiBartolo Bakery will not be in attendance, David Hodges is your contact for all questions regarding BID participation at the Market. (856) 979-6653 cell for voice or text.
VENDOR PARKING PERMITS It’s good business to save the best parking spaces for SHOPPERS! Most visitors will tell you it’s tough to find parking at the Market. We make things worse by parking our own vehicles in spaces that could be used and re-used many times by shoppers. Please encourage your table crew to park for free in the Lumberyard Parking Garage (just across Collings Avenue from the west entrance). There are plenty of spaces inside, and the walk back to the Market takes 3 minutes.
FLEXIBLE SITE PLAN Changes will continue to occur throughout the season as vendors come and go and as we learn more about how neighbors interact. I remind you no spaces are ever guaranteed and require your cooperation if I have to move your location any given week. Thank you. Hello, Vendors, Artists, and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
SUNNY BUT CHILLY . . . LIKE NOVEMBER
The sun is rising earlier (according to Congress), but the light wind chill and the fact that it’s November will conspire to keep things pretty chilly this SAT NOV 15.
HANDMADE HOLIDAYS
SAT NOV 15 is the third of four Saturdays in November we will celebrate the Handmade Holidays with our guest artists, crafters, artisans, photographers, jewelers, potters, ceramicists, clothing designers, woodworkers . . . .
The second weekend was a wonderful debut (following a very rainy first). This week promises to be another beautiful installment of our very popular annual event.

Hello, Vendors, Artists, and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
SUNNY BUT CHILLY . . . LIKE NOVEMBER
The wet weather will have moved out by Saturday morning when we’re setting up for the Market. Expect chilly temperatures but mostly sunny skies (once the sun comes up).
HANDMADE HOLIDAYS
SAT NOV 08 is the second of four Saturdays in November we will celebrate the Handmade Holidays with our guest artists, crafters, artisans, photographers, jewelers, potters, ceramicists, clothing designers, woodworkers . . . .
The first weekend was a miserable washout, which will make SAT NOV 08 a bright and cheerful debut for this annual event.

Handmade Holidays Setup 2014
Welcome Artists and Crafters. We’re delighted to host you for the 2014 Handmade Holidays event at the Collingswood Farmers’ Market.
Whether you’re a Market veteran or a Market rookie, these instructions will help insure a smooth arrival and setup during what can be a hectic hour. You’ll be moving into a Market that is already well established, joining dozens of vendors with their own customary locations, setup procedures, and traffic patterns. Take it easy, stay aware, and remember you are a guest.
Study your location
- Further down this post you will find the site plans for all four November Saturdays.
- Study the plans for all the Saturdays you’ve scheduled.
- We’ve done our best to avoid bouncing you around.
- Except for this first, weather-altered week, you should be in the same location, but check.
- The first farm vendors arrive at 6am. You are welcome to arrive with them.
- Arrive no later than 7am. You need to be ready to sell at 8am.
- David will be on site wearing red sweatshirt and/or jacket and a Market cap.
- You may text David to let him know you’ve arrived.
- Text, don’t call, (856) 979-6653
If you’re on the South side of the Market (spaces 50-89)
- STOP
- Stop at the west entrance to the Market.
- David will guide you to your space when the traffic permits.
- DO NOT proceed directly to your space and put up a tent.
If you’re on the North side of the Market (spaces 1-49)
- DO NOT drive into the Market at all.
- You’ll park briefly alongside the parking meters on the north side to unload.
- David will have Vendor Parking Passes for you
- Park in the Lumberyard Garage for free to save spaces for shoppers.
Have the latest plan with you
- This blog is easy to bring on your smartphone.
- The site plan is subject to change.
- The latest version is always live at the blog.
- If you bring a printed copy of your plan, it might not be current.
- Don’t be late, but text ahead if you’re going to be late.
- (856) 979-6653.
- If you must call instead of texting, please remember, when I answer, I will be busy with someone who’s on time.
- Remain patient.
Drive the right direction
- Traffic is ONE WAY, west to east.
- The top of the site plan is the entrance.
- Spaces 50-89 wait for David to escort your car.
- Spaces 1-49 do not drive into the Market.
- Spaces 1-49 load from the “parking meter” side of the space
Look for the chalk
- Market space numbers are marked with chalk on the pavement.
- Market spaces are parking space dimensions, 10 feet wide by 16 feet deep.
- Lines are drawn diagonally, but your spaces are square.
- The Market provides space only.
- Bring your own tables and tents.
- November can be windy; tents require weights for safety.
- Plan your displays so that your products don’t fall or blow away.
Unload quickly
- The “drive” down the middle gets very congested.
- At most, you have 15 minutes to unload.
- Stay to the side to permit others to pass.
- Don’t even think about parking your vehicle in your space.
- Get a free Vendor Parking Pass from David.
- If you take a prime parking spot for four hours, customers can’t use it.

Collingswood Site Details SAT NOV 01
Hello, Vendors, Artists, and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
WE’VE WEATHERED WORSE
Superstorm Sandy hit exactly two years ago, so we know what this time of year can bring. For this week, let’s just say the weather forecast could be a lot better. Of course the 70% chance of light rain during the setup hours is worrisome. Worse though are those projected 14-18 mph winds, which can be a lot more disruptive than precipitation. Here’s the 7am view. That red spot camped off the Delaware coast is churning up our area.
WEIGHTS and TIE-DOWNS
These will be mandatory this Saturday. Gusts can upend unweighted tents creating serious hazards.
HANDMADE HOLIDAYS
SAT NOV 01 is the first of four Saturdays in November we will celebrate the Handmade Holidays with our guest artists, crafters, artisans, photographers, jewelers, potters, ceramicists, clothing designers, woodworkers . . . .

By the end of the month, we’ll be finding space for 20.
LATE CHANGES TO THE SITE MAP
In advance reaction to weather that may occur, several vendors have made changes that alter our site plan for tomorrow SAT NOV 01. Van Dyk Flowers will not attend. Hymer’s Farm will not attend. Schober Orchards will re-locate to the south or “PATCO side” of the Market. Four crafters will re-locate slightly but remain below the PATCO speedline. We will also absorb the Collingswood BID vendors into the Market proper so that the Market will be less long on the North Side. All those changes are reflected in the revised Site Map below.
New Site Map as of Noon FRI OCT 31
GUEST VENDORS
Plenty of Guest Vendors this week too. Border Springs Farm Lamb, Weckerly’s Ice Cream, and John & Kira’s Chocolates take familiar spaces in the Guest Vendor area. Rich’s Micro Roast will be near the middle of the Market (space 16) roasting fresh beans to your specifications. At the west end of the Market Wood Spoon Rice Pudding and SOOM Foods will fill out the Collingswood BID vendor spaces. Green Aisle Grocery will take a spot inside the Market (space 84). And finally, live alpacas will take the week off and return SAT NOV 08 for the rest of the season.
LIVE MUSIC
The always popular Dave Kelly will command the east stage this week (weather permitting).

Collingswood SAT OCT 25
Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
Sunny again and thank goodness since the temperatures will be brisk. Winds are light to start the day, picking up a little as we move toward noon. Bring out your weights or tie-downs to secure those tents. Last week got a little gusty.
ANNUAL VENDOR APPRECIATION LUNCH
Mark and Lydia will be our hosts for lunch again this year at Tortilla Press immediately following the close of our Market. The restaurant is located right in the middle of town, at the corner with the traffic light at Haddon Avenue and Collings Avenue. David will be handing out “tickets” to keep track of the head count, but the event is of course FREE to all vendors and Market guests. The restaurant is BYOB in case you’re ready to start your weekend at the lunch hour.
SITE MAP FOR SAT OCT 25.
Hurley’s Landscape Nursery is finished for the season and won’t attend this week. So is Les Viereck who will also not be here. Both have opened up space inside the Market. Linda Sikking will move into the Hurley spaces to finish out her season this Saturday. Stop by to bid her farewell until next May. I’ve moved Clam Daddy’s from the “busy” section of the north side. They’ll finish out their season in the “teens” spaces once the artists and crafters arrive next SAT NOV 01.
GUEST VENDORS
Border Springs Farm Lamb, Weckerly’s Ice Cream, Wood Spoon Rice Pudding, John & Kira’s Chocolates, and SOOM Foods will fill out a beautifully diverse Guest Vendor area. Green Aisle Grocery will take a spot inside the Market. Neil’s Sharpening Service will take his usual monthly spot. And finally, Windy Farm will bring their furry alpacas to the west end.
LIVE MUSIC The always popular Dave Kelly will command the west stage this week. To the east, we’ll be hosting a second installment this season of the highly entertaining White Family Reunion Band (featuring Grays and Whites and a guest mandolin).
BID VENDORS As always, Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding BID participation at the Market. (609) 949-3424. mikied721@gmail.com. However, since Mike will not attend the Market SAT OCT 04, David will be your go-to onsite contact.
GUEST ARTIST Nicole Meyers will bring her Woodstream Dream to the Guest Artist Space 24.
Photo to come.

Collingswood SAT OCT 18
Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
At last the weather forecast is filled with sunny graphics! Temperatures will be much cooler than recent weeks, but falling humidity and 0% chance of rain sounds pretty delightful after the last two weeks. Hello sun!
APPLE PIE BAKING CONTEST
Looks like perfect weather for our favorite annual event: Pie Baking Contest! We have a table-full of contestants lined up to present their baked creations (and a full roster of judges eager to taste them!). Stop by at 10am to see the judicious tasting.
SITE MAP FOR SAT OCT 18.
The plan is back to normal following last week’s Book Festival disruption. Guest vendors return to their customary spots, including the popular live alpacas from Windy Farm. If Eckerts’ season is over and the corn truck doesn’t return, we’ll probably relocate the alpacas to the “top of the plan,” at the west entrance. Otherwise, here’s how things will look.
GUEST VENDORS
Border Springs Farm Lamb, Weckerly’s Ice Cream, Market Day Canele, Wood Spoon Rice Pudding, MECHA Chocolates will fill out a beautifully diverse Guest Vendor area.
LIVE MUSIC Collingswood favorites on both stages this week: on the west stage guitar-and-vocals master John Rossi; on the east stage, the always popular Dave Kelly.
GUEST ARTIST Eric Wolff will fill the Guest Vendor Space with the extraordinary collection of ceramic creations he calls Mud and Fire.
FOOD PANTRY (LOURDES AND OAKLYN). Our Market Sponsor Lourdes Wellness once again hosts the fine folks of the Oaklyn Food Pantry for a Buy 2 Give 1 food drive to benefit our food-vulnerable neighbors. Encourage your customers to pick up an extra cauliflower or a quart of beans to donate to the hungry.

Collingswood SAT OCT 11
Collingswood SAT OCT 11
Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
This will make two weeks in a row the forecasters are calling for rain on a Market Saturday. Last week’s anticipated storm never materialized, so this forecast for showers doesn’t look so frightening. (Sad for the Book Festival, though; they only get one day a year to hold their event.)
SITE MAP FOR SAT OCT 11.
The plan is unusual for two reasons this week. 1) The Book Festival forces traffic patterns to change in the Borough, so the Guest Vendor area turns into a through-traffic street for the week. We’ve moved our Guest Vendors into the interior Market spaces on the “sunny side.” 2) AT Buzby is finished for the season, so their spaces have been absorbed by the Guests. Greg and Karen Hurley are back after one Saturday off. Eckert Farm is still on the plan this week, but for how long is uncertain.
Border Springs Farm Lamb, SOOM Foods Tahini, Green Aisle Grocery, John & Kira’s Chocolates, and Aurora Naturals Soap will take spaces on the “sunny side.”
LIVE MUSIC Collingswood favorites on both stages this week: on the west stage guitar-and-vocals master Sam Caruso; on the east stage, the dynamic duo She Hates Me.
GUEST ARTIST Not this week. We couldn’t guarantee the space in advance since the Book Festival layout made space availability uncertain. Eric Wolff will occupy the Guest Vendor Space 24 next week, SAT OCT 18.
NONPROFIT FUNDRAISER. We’re devoting two spaces to our furry and our human friends from the Animal Adoption Center of Lindenwold.

Collingswood SAT OCT 04
Hello, Vendors and Friends of the Collingswood Farmers’ Market!
It’s hard to deny the forecast looks wet. Winds don’t look outrageous, but we’ll be looking for tent weights for everyone this week. Please be careful setting up so we can avoid injuries to ourselves and our customers.
SITE MAP FOR SAT OCT 04.
The plan is starting to thin out for the season. Greg and Karen Hurley are off for just one week, and will return SAT OCT 11. But this is the last week for AT Buzby, who end their season this week. Eckert Farm is still on the plan this week, but for how long is uncertain.
