Vendor News

We have another week packed with mostly regular vendors. Schober Orchards has begun to expand with last week’s bounty of fresh peaches. They’ll be back with even more this week. Savoie and DanLynn, the two organic farms, had the busiest stands last week, though pretty much everybody sold out of most of their produce by day’s end.

Buy Jersey Fresh and Win a Barbecue Grill

Flaim Farms is running a raffle for three weeks. Shoppers earn one chance every time they spend $20. The grill is still in the box, which you can see at the Flaim stand. (Sharon says Home Depot will assemble the grill for the winner.)

Do You Take Credit Cards?

I’m planning to add an enhancement to the site plan to indicate which vendors process credit sales. Just tell me you’d like to be promoted and I’ll add a symbol to next week’s plan in your space(s).

End of the Specialty Berries

Both Blue Acres Berry Farm and Brookeberry Farm are done for the season. There will be berries at the Market, but not from the “berries-only” farms.

Guest Vendors

Otolith Sustainable Seafood will join John & Kira’s Chocolates in the Guest Vendors area this week.

Market Sponsor Lourdes Wellness will staff Veggie Valet!

Our generous sponsors have offered to staff our new Veggie Valet station for us. They’ve done so once before this season and we’re always grateful. Reminder to nonprofits who wish to attend the Market more than once a month: volunteering to staff the Veggie Valet is the only way to attend more often.

Cub Scouts, Ballerinas, and Activists.

This week’s nonprofit fundraisers could also be called “Water Ice, Ice Water, Food and Water Watch.” We’ll have local cub scouts, a nonprofit dance therapy studio, and the good folks who monitor the quality of the groundwater in the Garden State. Not to mention, the scouts will be painting faces!

BID Vendors

Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding your appearance. Mike DiBartolo, dibartolobakery@comcast.net (609) 949-3424.

Flexible Site Plan

Changes will continue to occur throughout the season as vendors come and go and as we learn more about how neighbors interact. I remind you no spaces are ever guaranteed and require your cooperation if I move your location any given week.

Voorhees SAT JUL 13

Voorhees JUL 13

Hello, Voorhees Marketeers!

General Notes

Weather should be cooler and less humid this week with Friday’s rain ending well before Market opening. Expect a beautiful day.

Caribbean Party

The most successful Saturdays this summer have been the special event days. Crowds are bigger and sales are stronger. This week is another Caribbean Party. The steel drum band will provide the entertainment. In addition to Catelli Duo, who do a beautiful job every week, this week three more of our restaurants (Rodizio, Elena Wu, and Qdoba) will be setting up sampling tents to tempt shoppers to linger longer at the Market. Dress for the islands and bring out your best stuff.

Vendor Notes

  • In short, WE’RE FULL!
  • Blueberry Fields had a good first week and will return this week SAT JUL 13.
  • Sweet Pea CSA is back after too long away (and two weeks earlier than expected!) I’ve placed Alex between two vendors who do not park vehicles in the Market. I hope her neighbors will give her the room she needs for her little pickup. (There’s no room to spare.)
  • Bellview Winery is with us this week. Remind your customers that we have fine wines every week.
  • NEW PRODUCT: Artisan breads from American Harvest of Mount Laurel will be presented by Talluto’s Washington Township for the first time this week. Tell your customers they no longer have to make a separate trip to the bakery.
  • NEW VENDOR: Kemp’s Kettle Corn will join us for the first time this week!
  • MARKET VISITORS: This week or next, you may be approached by prospective vendors from Lawless Jerky and Marc Kaplan’s Kelp Chips. Please make them feel welcome. We can all benefit from adding a variety of quality vendors to our mix.

Vendor News

We have another week packed with vendors and guests. La Pooch, Rochelle Rose, and Otolith are all back, but in part they’ll move into space vacated by Cymron Cottage, who are done for the season.

Sad End for a Farm

Blue Acres Berry Farm will not be back. The Andersons began their third season with us just last week, and now they report they have to give up their spot. Lack of help and too many work obligations conspired to overwhelm them. Of course many of our permanent farm vendors bring blueberries to market, so we won’t suffer too much, but still it’s always disappointing when a farm can’t make it.

Guest Vendors

In happier news, Brookeberry will be back with their organic raspberries and blackberries. Dee Dee’s Pesto, Waldor Orchids, and Green Aisle Grocery will fill out the Guest Vendor area. Inside the Market, near the Veggie Valet, we’ll be hosting Hand and Paw Massage (so-called because the masseuse caters to pets, not people).

New Feature This Week: Market Tours!

Friend of the Farmers Market (FOFM) volunteer Erin O’Donnell will be conducting tours of the Market to familiarize shoppers with vendors and their wares, and to help them understand various types of table areas. The tour begins at 8:15, so look for Erin and her tour group early. Share your good news with them.

Animal Shelter will staff Veggie Valet!

Our good friends at the Camden County Animal Shelter will be back for the second time this month. Ordinarily, that’s a violation of Market rules, but we’re happy to make an exception for any nonprofit willing to staff our new Veggie Valet station for us!

Voorhees SAT JUL 06

Voorhees JUL 06
Hello, Voorhees Marketeers!

General Notes

Weather should be spectacular this week and Farmers Markets are a popular family outing for a stay-home holiday weekend (and for those entertaining out-of-town guests)!

Vendor Notes

  • Blueberry Fields had a good first week and will return next week SAT JUL 13.
  • Bellview Winery is with us this week. Remind your customers that we have fine wines every week.
  • Hank Sauce is back with sauces to enhance the meats Woods Edge will bring.
  • Woods Edge Wool Farm will be back with coolers of meat.
  • We’ve moved the Refreshment Tent adjacent to Catelli. (This meant relocating Hazlett Organic to break up the mix, which I never do thoughtlessly and hope will work out well for everyone.)
  • Sweet Pea CSA reports their hens “are on strike” and not laying, but they look forward to a hearty return on JUL 27, and a stepped-up participation schedule in August and September.
  • David has located an excellent artisan bakery in Mount Laurel and is working hard to mount and staff a retail operation for them at the Market. Expect a full line of baguettes; batards; boules; and rustic, crusty, hand-shaped loaves and ciabattas, as early as JUL 13.
  • Ever heard of a beach plum? Jalma Farms of Cape May County has been growing them for jellies, jams, and syrups and is eager to move into “inland” markets. Expect more news about them.

Vendor News

There’s breathing room in our site plan this week. La Pooch, Rochelle Rose, and Otolith are all off this week, and instead of 5 Guest Vendors, we have 3. Holly Acres is finished for the season, so Formisano Farms will expand to absorb that space. Schober is about to expand with extra tents for their peach tables. This is the last week of the season for Cymron Cottage; stop by to bid them farewell and pick up something pretty for the garden. And at the west end, this week marks the first appearance of the Eckert family corn truck.

Guest Vendors

BERRIES AND CHOCOLATE: Both specialty berry farms are here this week, Brookeberry with their organic raspberries and Blue Acres Berry Farm with—you guessed it—blueberries. They will flank John & Kira’s Chocolates at the Guest Vendor end of the Market.

Cycle for a Cause?

Longtime friend of the Market Steven Burch is riding in the Multiple Sclerosis City to the Shore Bike Tour. He’s here seeking sponsors and recruiting riders

Independence Day Events

No Collingswood events for the holiday will create conflict or opportunity for the Market. All in-town events were held on Thursday, July 04. However, this is a big home barbecue weekend, so anyone who’s in town for the weekend will likely be at the Market on Saturday.

New Feature: Market Tours!

Friend of the Farmers Market (FOFM) volunteer Erin O’Donnell will be conducting tours of the Market to familiarize shoppers with vendors and their wares, and to help them understand various types of table areas. Look for Erin this week at your tables: she’ll be introducing herself and asking questions that might be of interest to shoppers, including what to do with a patty pan squash. Then, July 13, you’ll see her again, conducting the first Market Tour.
