Collingswood SAT SEP 07
Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
ROOM IN THE PLAN
Where did the summer go? We have a couple of vacancies this week (and others to come now that the weather is changing), making space available on the “sunny side.”
FEATURED ARTIST
Anita Dipietro will be making her first Market visit with jewelry of metal and semiprecious stones.
LIVE MUSIC
Shannon and Kevin are back to rock the joint. You may also know them as “She Hates Me.”
GUEST VENDORS
Market Day Canele will be back for the second week in a row, joining Market favorite Green Aisle Grocery. We’re also host to Hand and Paw this week, where your pet can be massaged. Be sure to stop by with animals or without to see our new guest.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
People for the Poor makes its first appearance in the interior nonprofit space.
Collingswood SAT AUG 31, 2013
Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
A VERY SIMPLE SITE PLAN
We’re crowded with a full roster of vendors, but there’s nothing unusual to complicate this week’s site plan.
FEATURED ARTIST
Maria Cartwright makes enameled jewelry of torch-fired copper. I know, I have a hard time visualizing that too, but I can’t wait to see it. Visit her at Space 20.
GUEST VENDORS
Market Day Canele will be here with their unique pastries (and most likely a sweet and a savory tart also—if you’ve promised to bring something to a party, this might save you). Otolith Sustainable Seafood is also available to keep your barbecue from being mundane. Consider also adding the saving details of Dee Dee’s Pesto or Jalma’s Beach Plum Preserves.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
None. This might be a first.
Collingswood SAT AUG 24, 2013
Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
SITE PLAN BACK TO NORMAL
We’re back to our usual spaces following last week’s Craft Fair disruptions at the Irvin Avenue end of the Market. Most vendors will not notice the difference, but the Guest Vendors this week will return to the east end.
FEATURED ARTIST
Carol and Dave Leader call themselves Turned Treasures. They use wood lathes to turn wood and other materials, including Corian, into beautiful and functional items.
GUEST VENDORS
John and Kira’s Chocolates, Green Aisle Grocery, and Waldor Orchids will tempt vendors and shoppers with their specialties in the Guest Vendor area.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
Camden County Animal Shelter will be back to share information, take applications for adoptable pets, and accept donations of cash and hard goods. As always, they appreciate pet foods, blankets, sheets, towels, cleaning supplies and items of value that they can raffle.
They’ll also be available to supplement our other volunteers by staffing the Veggie Valet booth.

Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
LATE CHANGES TO THE PLAN
I apologize for changing the plan after midnight Thursday, but these revisions are mandated by the Borough’s need to use Irvin Avenue on Saturday to relieve traffic congestion caused by the closing of Haddon Avenue.
All participants have been moved from Irvin Avenue into the heart of the Market, to the east or west of Space 20. This includes Dee Dee’s Pesto, Market Day Canele, The Collingswood Food Co-op, and the Pop-up Gala. Veggie Valet will not operate due to space limitations.
COLLINGSWOOD CRAFTS AND FINE ART FESTIVAL
For everyone else in town, this big event is a chance to stroll the Avenue shopping for artistic expressions. For us, it means we can’t use Haddon Avenue and traffic can be difficult everywhere in Collingswood. Don’t count on using Haddon Avenue any time after 6am. The festival runs SAT and SUN 10am-6pm, but the street closes earlier for setup. We often get good spillover crowds, which makes it easier to accept the traffic troubles.
MUSIC AND VOLUNTEER TENTS
As we have always done on days like this, we’ll “snug in” the FOFM tent a bit to make room for vehicles to pass on Irvin Avenue, but it and the music tent will still function as usual.
TREEHOUSE IS BACK FROM VACATION
They’ll once again command their big space at the west end of the Market.
FEATURED ARTIST
Shaina Booker promises an intriguing mix of artistic face painting and crafted items from her studio in Haddon Township.
GUEST VENDORS
Dee Dee’s Garden will be back with their fresh-frozen pesto. And Market Day Canele will be here too, with that indescribable pastry and fresh sweet and savory tarts.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
The hopeful founders of the Collingswood Food Co-op will be back, promoting their big idea and signing up volunteers and prospective members. Growers should stop by too, to see if there’s a chance to sell to this industrious group.
There may also be a chance to buy tickets to the “secret location” Pop-Up Gala. if they find enough volunteers to staff a table, you’ll find them somewhere at the Market, at a new but secret location.
NJAID for Animals is our Animal Shelter this week. Please consider donating cash, pet food, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, whatever you can. Better yet . . . adopt something lovable.
Collingswood SAT AUG 10, 2013
Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
DUKER RETURNS
Robert (Duker T) Barber is tired of missing markets. He’ll be back with us this week in his usual spot. Give him a hand with his tents.
TREEHOUSE STILL VACATIONING
I’ve located the Nonprofit area at the west end of the Market this week since Treehouse is on its second and final week of vacation. They’ll be back SAT AUG 17.
FEATURED ARTIST
Harriet Duncan takes the Featured Artist space this week with her original photography.
GUEST VENDORS
We are packed with Guests. Chocolate, pesto, preserves, nut butters, and orchids enliven the east end this week.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
There are nonprofits for every age group this week, from Kids for Peace to the Health and Aging Lab (with Traveling Soccer in between). Camden County Animal Shelter will be back at the Veggie Valet table.
Speaking of the Animal Shelter, please stop by with pet food or “linens,” if you can spare some. By linens we mean bedspreads, sheets, towels, anything that can be used as pet beds.

Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
SEND BEST WISHES
In his voicemail to me, Robert (Duker T) Barber didn’t mention which hospital he’s in, but he was admitted for kidney surgery Thursday and will not attend the Market this week.
PEACH PIE CONTEST
The annual contest takes place this week at the west end of the Market. Treehouse Café is off for vacation this week and also next week, so there’s room for pies, judges, tents, and spectators where the Treehouse usually sets up. Tents will go up early. Judging begins at 10am.
FEATURED ARTIST
Lisa Confora brings her jewelry designs (and her passion for recycling nostalgic materials) to the Featured Artist space.
GUEST VENDOR
Dee Dee’s Pesto will be here.
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
A team of riders planning to tackle MS will be soliciting sponsors and riders: they call themselves Team Fanboys. Camden County Animal Shelter will be back at the Veggie Valet table.
Collingswood SAT JUL 27 2013
Hello, Collingswood Marketeers!
Duker T’s will not be with us this week (Bob’s at a wedding), so there’s a bit of space at the west end, some of which Schober will absorb with an extra table for peaches, and some of which I’ve allocated to our organic farms, who are experiencing mid-season bounties.
MARKET EVENTS
Mike DiBartolo is hosting a special Guest Chef at his BID location at the west end. Last year we got to sample the fresh, prepared-on-location bruschetta made with Jersey Fresh straight from the Market. This year—who knows?—maybe he’ll be stomping grapes!
CREDIT CARDS
This week’s site plan uses a simple C for credit to indicate which vendors accept credit cards. Be sure to let me know if your position on credit cards changes.
NEW VENDOR
Jalma Farms Beach Plum Preserves. Yes, beach plums. They’re plums. They grow at the beach. Other surprises await you at this new table in the Guest Vendor area by the Music Tent.
RETURNING AS GUESTS
Market Day Canele
Green Aisle Grocery
NONPROFITS AND FUNDRAISERS
Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention will have a table for the first time at the Market this Saturday. Camden County Animal Shelter will be back at the Veggie Valet table.
COLLINGSWOOD FOOD CO-OP
Some enterprising Collingswood locals hope to start a food co-op. They’ll be talking the talk and recruiting new members to their cause at the east end.
UPCOMING
Can you believe it’s August already next Saturday? Peach Pie Contest SAT AUG 03! Check out the facebook page for entry details if you haven’t already.
BID VENDORS
Mike DiBartolo, not David Hodges, is your contact for all questions regarding your appearance. Mike DiBartolo, dibartolobakery@comcast.net or (609) 949-3424.
FLEXIBLE SITE PLAN
Changes will continue to occur throughout the season as vendors come and go and as we learn more about now neighbors interact. I remind you no spaces are ever guaranteed and require your cooperation if I move your location any given week. Thank you.

Vendor News
We have another week packed with mostly regular vendors. Schober Orchards has begun to expand with last week’s bounty of fresh peaches. They’ll be back with even more this week. Savoie and DanLynn, the two organic farms, had the busiest stands last week, though pretty much everybody sold out of most of their produce by day’s end.
Buy Jersey Fresh and Win a Barbecue Grill
Flaim Farms is running a raffle for three weeks. Shoppers earn one chance every time they spend $20. The grill is still in the box, which you can see at the Flaim stand. (Sharon says Home Depot will assemble the grill for the winner.)
Do You Take Credit Cards?
I’m planning to add an enhancement to the site plan to indicate which vendors process credit sales. Just tell me you’d like to be promoted and I’ll add a symbol to next week’s plan in your space(s).
End of the Specialty Berries
Both Blue Acres Berry Farm and Brookeberry Farm are done for the season. There will be berries at the Market, but not from the “berries-only” farms.
Guest Vendors
Otolith Sustainable Seafood will join John & Kira’s Chocolates in the Guest Vendors area this week.
Market Sponsor Lourdes Wellness will staff Veggie Valet!
Our generous sponsors have offered to staff our new Veggie Valet station for us. They’ve done so once before this season and we’re always grateful. Reminder to nonprofits who wish to attend the Market more than once a month: volunteering to staff the Veggie Valet is the only way to attend more often.
Cub Scouts, Ballerinas, and Activists.
This week’s nonprofit fundraisers could also be called “Water Ice, Ice Water, Food and Water Watch.” We’ll have local cub scouts, a nonprofit dance therapy studio, and the good folks who monitor the quality of the groundwater in the Garden State. Not to mention, the scouts will be painting faces!

Vendor News
We have another week packed with vendors and guests. La Pooch, Rochelle Rose, and Otolith are all back, but in part they’ll move into space vacated by Cymron Cottage, who are done for the season.
Sad End for a Farm
Blue Acres Berry Farm will not be back. The Andersons began their third season with us just last week, and now they report they have to give up their spot. Lack of help and too many work obligations conspired to overwhelm them. Of course many of our permanent farm vendors bring blueberries to market, so we won’t suffer too much, but still it’s always disappointing when a farm can’t make it.
Guest Vendors
In happier news, Brookeberry will be back with their organic raspberries and blackberries. Dee Dee’s Pesto, Waldor Orchids, and Green Aisle Grocery will fill out the Guest Vendor area. Inside the Market, near the Veggie Valet, we’ll be hosting Hand and Paw Massage (so-called because the masseuse caters to pets, not people).
New Feature This Week: Market Tours!
Friend of the Farmers Market (FOFM) volunteer Erin O’Donnell will be conducting tours of the Market to familiarize shoppers with vendors and their wares, and to help them understand various types of table areas. The tour begins at 8:15, so look for Erin and her tour group early. Share your good news with them.
Animal Shelter will staff Veggie Valet!
Our good friends at the Camden County Animal Shelter will be back for the second time this month. Ordinarily, that’s a violation of Market rules, but we’re happy to make an exception for any nonprofit willing to staff our new Veggie Valet station for us!

Voorhees SAT JUL 06
Hello, Voorhees Marketeers!
General Notes
Weather should be spectacular this week and Farmers Markets are a popular family outing for a stay-home holiday weekend (and for those entertaining out-of-town guests)!
Vendor Notes
-
Blueberry Fields had a good first week and will return next week SAT JUL 13.
-
Bellview Winery is with us this week. Remind your customers that we have fine wines every week.
-
Hank Sauce is back with sauces to enhance the meats Woods Edge will bring.
-
Woods Edge Wool Farm will be back with coolers of meat.
-
We’ve moved the Refreshment Tent adjacent to Catelli. (This meant relocating Hazlett Organic to break up the mix, which I never do thoughtlessly and hope will work out well for everyone.)
-
Sweet Pea CSA reports their hens “are on strike” and not laying, but they look forward to a hearty return on JUL 27, and a stepped-up participation schedule in August and September.
-
David has located an excellent artisan bakery in Mount Laurel and is working hard to mount and staff a retail operation for them at the Market. Expect a full line of baguettes; batards; boules; and rustic, crusty, hand-shaped loaves and ciabattas, as early as JUL 13.
-
Ever heard of a beach plum? Jalma Farms of Cape May County has been growing them for jellies, jams, and syrups and is eager to move into “inland” markets. Expect more news about them.
